An Untold Story About Team Dumpin

Sarfraz Khan a student of Delhi University and IIT-Delhi, with his friends Shivendra Singh, Sayeed Afridi, Sagar Bakheta and Abhishek Faujdar started  Dumpin Recyclers Private Limited in September 2017 with a vision to transform the waste into an asset. Initially, they started working with the manufacturing units in Noida. They collected the corrugated box waste, segregated it into different qualities and forwarded it for recycling.

They have conducted various awareness programs in Noida and East Delhi to create awareness among the people about the existing waste management system and how it can be improved to create a Zero Waste Generating Society.

They also have conducted a clean drive partnering IUCN( International Union For Conserving  Nature) and ONGC near Okhla Bird Sanctuary to create awareness about the  Riverine Plastic Waste Problems. They have given a presentation at ONGC, Vasant Kunj Campus on Solutions to Tackle the Plastic Waste in the Marine Ecosystem.  We got selected for Startup BaseCamp 101 conducted by the Department of Management Studies IIT Delhi. Their core focus is to create multiple streams the supply chain for waste management where the residents are incentivized for source segregation and wet-dry waste is processed at the decentralized Material Recovery Facility

They have conducted various training sessions for the residents, maids, and cleaning staff in societies like Ashirwad Enclave, JP Greens, etc so that they can empower the existing unorganized sector with the right knowledge and safety equipment to handle the waste in a better way. We have achieved 90 percent source segregation with 100 households at Vasant Kunj.

They have been selected for the Joint Mentoring Session conducted by IIT and IIM alumni. Professor Kavya Dashora (CRDT, IIT-Delhi) has agreed to mentor them to create a sustainable solution for the increasing household waste in India.

They are working to create a platform for the unorganized sector to work in a hygienic environment, increase the recyclability of daily waste and enhance efficiency and productivity. This will not only increase their life expectancy but also help to bring their social status upward. Increasing waste is a huge challenge for modern India and they require support so that they can create a society where waste can be treated as an asset and utilized in the best possible way.
